Abstract:
As editors of Seleucia, we are proud to share with you a rich content in the 16th issue of our journal, 2026. Prioritizing studies on Olba, this issue of Seleucia includes an interesting assessment of the inscription on the Olba aqueduct, first published in the 19th century. You will also find a detailed description of the aqueduct church, a previously unknown structure unearthed in recent excavations in the city. Furthermore, you will find an assessment of the weight of the glass coins found in this structure. You will read the results of a recent study on the arched lintel rock tomb complex in Olba, which has long been known but not thoroughly examined. Finally, this issue includes an article evaluating the theater of Magarsus (Adana – Karataş) in light of recent archaeological research conducted there, as part of studies on the Cilicia region. In the context of ancient archaeology of the Mediterranean region, we also present to our readers an article that examines the interaction between Pamphylia and Lycia through Byzantine plaques. It will undoubtedly interest you to learn about the Italian influences in the design of the Temple of Artemis in Sardes, which we believe was built in accordance with the Greek-Roman architectural tradition in Anatolia. Another study in the field of architecture that we have included in this issue is on the Hyposorion Tomb Monument in Letton.Artifacts found in various excavations in Anatolia or in museum collections are also the subject of many studies in this issue of our journal. These are articles dealing with the Rhodos amphora seals from the Yenicehöyük excavations in Gaziantep, Roman coin finds from the Hadrianopolis excavations, an eagle statue from the Yozgat Museum collection, a portrait from the Metropolitan Museum, and the Eirene Stele from the Bodrum Underwater Archaeology Museum. Studies based on ancient written sources are also included in this issue of our journal. These are:an article examining the period between the 4th century BC and the 3rd century AD in Anemurium, and a study evaluating the burning of the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem in the context of the ancient Greek text of Titus Flavius Iosephus. We also believe you will read with interest the article on archaeological activity in Cyprus in the 19th century, using Luigi Palma di Cesnola as an example. Our journal also includes studies on the Turkish Islamic period of Anatolia, such as the tiles in the buildings of Diyarbakır, the Seljuk Cemetery of Ahlat, and the coin finds from the excavation of the Old City of Ahlat. Finally, we present to you an interesting study in this issue: an article on the "calceus" (a type of leather boot) as a symbol of status and ideology in Rome.
